Tegan has been working in education as a teacher and manager for 7 years. She is the coordinator of Rainbow Connections, a social welfare program for LGBTQI international students, which has been running for 2 years. Rainbow Connections is supported by Study Melbourne and the Victorian Government through an International Student Welfare Program grant. Tegan has advocated for greater inclusion in the ELICOS industry and has spoken at a number of state and national events on the issue.
